Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements such as stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination. Symptoms often begin gradually and worsen over time. As the disease progresses, many people have difficulty walking and talking.
People with Parkinson's Disease often have trouble with their posture, weight shifting, and walking due to slowed movements or bradykinesia.
PWR! Exercises specifically designed for Parkinson's patients, and prescribed by a trained physical therapist can work to combat bradykinesia and other movement symptoms. Big and fast movements are used to help reduce the rate of progression and help ease symptoms.
At Core Balance, we have two therapists, Dr. Sarah Seelman and Dr. Mia Knight, who are trained in PWR! for Parkinson's Disease. We will gladly design an exercise program for your specific needs. During each one-hour visit you will work on individualized exercises with targeted results that you can feel...because it's the quality of life that matters most!
